Brighton SEO is the UK’s biggest digital marketing conference. Being a bi-annual event, this year’s tickets sold out in just 60 seconds but, luckily for us, we were quick to grab a few and make our way to Brighton to soak up the latest in digital marketing trends.
Keen to keep up with the latest industry updates and provide the most relevant services for our clients, we were excited to take in as much knowledge (not to mention fish and chips) as possible. The day included talks from some of the most influential digital marketing experts from across Europe including Marcus Tober, Founder of SearchMetrics, reowned blogger and PR specialist, Catherine Warrilow, and a wonderful keynote from web psychologist, Nathalie Nihai. As well as providing further insight to content creation, UX, social media and technical aspects of Search Engine Optimisation, Brighton SEO also offers training on all areas of Paid Promotion, server analysis and SEO and how you can make it work for your business.
So besides a chance to stretch our legs, what did we learn from the day? A continued theme throughout the conference was very much user experience and the importance of business’ understanding their audience. As discussed in Nichola Stott’s talk, “How user experience is driving change in search”, it is estimated that by 2020, 40% of consumers will be Generation Z and, as such, we should be working to appeal to this market.
Generation Z, born in the mid to late 90s, are appearing to be the next big thing for marketing demographics. Demanding a better product over a better experience it has been proven that they have an attention span of less than 8 seconds when it comes to reading content online. Creating a wow-factor in order to maintain their interest has never been more important. With an average of 5 devices each, it is now essentical that your business is up to date on mobile visibility, desktop and relevant social media platforms. Is your website mobile-friendly? Are you active on the appropriate social media channels? These are the big questions business’ need to be addressing in 2016.
