Following another active year from Google in the world of algorithm updates, we now explore what 2022 has in store.

What we know so far.

Google is set to announce a revamp of the ‘Page Experience’ algorithm update, but this time focussing on desktop search results. It will look at:

Core web vitals (there are also other aspects to this update that will need to go in.

  • Largest Contentful Paint (LCP) The largest asset in the viewing pane
  • Cumulative layout shift (CLS)
  • First input delay (FID)

Originally this type of thing focused on mobile, but now Google is applying the same algorithmic functionality in desktop. This will affect ratings and indexing of many websites, including those of our clients.

There are over 200 different ranking signals to consider when thinking about Google. To ensure our clients keep a competitive advantage, we will respond to this change as quickly as possible.
